Martellacci, Eugene Joseph 80 Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle Eugene Joseph Martellacci, of Oakland and Paterson., N.J. unexpectedly left us on Saturday Jan.16th. He meant the world to his family and was a dependable friend to many. Born to Angelo and Jennie Martellacci during the great depression on September 2nd. 1929, he could not be prouder of his humble beginnings in Paterson as a first generation Italian-American with his treasured sisters Ida&Vera, brother John and his life long Pine Street friends that remained a part of his life to this day. He served the country he loved in the US Navy aboard the Coral Sea as a member of the flight deck crew. Upon returning to civilian life, he married Thomasina Verniero, his wife of 53 years. Settling in Oakland, they raised a loving family and founded TOMA Plastic Packaging in 1978 which remained in business until 2008. An avid bowler, Gene was a member of the Valley Lanes Bowling League for over 30 years and a team sponsor as well. Whether he answered to Gene, Hugh, Wish or Pop he always put others before himself and strived to make a positive contribution to the lives of his family and friends. He will never be forgotten, but will be sincerely missed by those who had the good fortune to know him. Gene is predeceased by his parents Angelo and Jennie, brother John, sister Vera Serra and his life long friend Dr. Jack Bello. He is survived by his wife Thomasina, sister Ida Emolo, three children and their partners; Gene&Linda Martellacci, Lucy&James Hogan and John Martellacci&Shelley Heller, six grandchildren; Joseph, Gina, Michael, James, Luca, and Justin, six nieces and nephews; George Serra, Nick Emolo, Nancy Emolo, Marc Serra, Marianne Verniero and Sam Verniero, The Bello family; Charlotte, Jack Jr. Steven, Dana and Greg. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Oakland Memorial Home 330 Ramapo Valley Road (Rt. 202) Oakland, New Jersey on Tuesday January 19, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral Wednesday departing the Funeral Home at 9:30AM for a 10 AM Funeral Liturgy at St Mary's R.C. Church 17 Pompton Ave. Pompton Lakes, NJ. Entombment Maryrest Cemetery Seminary and Campgaw Road, Mahwah, NJ
